Living history
The Witney Yarn Mosaic
Often history is seen as a dry subject but it does not need to be like that. Every place has its own story and in this section we look at modern Witney and the events and people in living memory. See the blog for latest updates

Not only do we look at recent history that has shaped the local area and brought Witney to where it is now, but also some current events that might eventually alter the tapestry that will, in time, become Witney's future history.
Quotes on history
A selection of pithy quotes on the nature of history...

“I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know no way of judging of the future but by the past.”

Professional artist Rob Turner was commissioned to try and capture ten centuries of local history for the development at Marriot's Walk in Witney.
Master Plan for The Leys, Witney
"The Town Council have prepared a draft Master Plan for The Leys, in order to secure investment for improvements and management of the largest public open space in Witney."
"We would like to make sure that residents are fully involved in the plans for the park and hope that you can take the time to complete the questionnaire and leave in the box provided or if you would like more time to make your comments, return it to the Town Hall."
If you have not seen or heard about the Master Plan for the Leys, Witney, now is the time to make your voice heard.
The council requests that responses are received by 30th September 2013
