The Museum has recently merged with the Witney & District Historical and
Archaeological Society to form what will now be known as the Witney
Museum and Historical Society. In forming this new partnership both
societies are committed to extending their involvement in the Witney
community. Witney is a dynamic, successful and expanding market town and
our goal is to reflect this in our exhibitions and talks throughout the year.

The Witney Museum & Historical Society has a permanent exhibition showing
the life and times of the area, from prehistory to early settlements, and the
transition to a market town in medieval times, through the development of the
blanket industry, the two World Wars and the growth of the modern town.
There is also a changing programme of exhibitions by local artists and
craft-workers upstairs in the Bartlett-Taylor Gallery, interspersed with historical
displays of local interest. See Witney Museum information
We welcome new members, and encourage everyone to help realise our vision
of making the Witney Museum & Historical Society a useful and valuable
community resource.
